Zynq™-7000 All Programmable SoC SpeedWay Design Workshops™
SILICA introduces a new series of Xilinx SpeedWay Design Workshops™, featuring the new Xilinx Zynq™-7000 All Programmable SoC architecture. This workshop series features two courses progressing from introductory and through running a Linux operating system on the Zynq-7000 AP SoC.
Taught by SILICA technical experts, these workshops combine informative presentations with hands-on labs. The training is recommended equally for engineers who are new to FPGAs as well as those seeking to enhance their expertise with the Zynq-7000 AP SoC development tools from Xilinx.

Description of Seminars:

Day 1 – Introduction to the Zynq-7000 AP SoC:
This class demonstrates the techniques and tools used to create a basic Zynq-7000 AP SoC design. Through a series of instructor presentations and hands-on labs, hardware and firmware developers will learn the required steps for creating a complete Zynq-7000 AP SoC design on ZedBoard. The Zynq-7000 AP SoC architecture is explained, including the ARM® Cortex™-A9 processing system (PS) and the 7 series programmable logic (PL).  The course also details the individual components that comprise the PS such as I/O peripherals, clocking, interrupt, AXI interfaces and memory controllers. Emphasis will be placed on efficient PL-to-PS interfacing including processing interrupts generated from a PL peripheral. To complete the design flow, the critical steps of hardware and software debugging techniques will be shown.

Day 2 – Implementing Linux on the Zynq-7000 AP SoC:
This course explores the Linux operating system running on the Xilinx Zynq-7000 AP SoC.  Starting with a pre-built hardware platform, attendees will build an embedded Linux system from the beginning. An application and device driver will be developed to interface to a custom hardware peripheral. The Linux operating system and basic driver development concepts will be explained.  A key take-away from this course is to show how the ARM Processing System (PS) and Programmable Logic (PL) work together on the Zynq-7000 AP SoC inside a Linux framework.
